My Approach
In my counselling experience I have worked with a diverse range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life-transitions, grief, and more. I have a passion for learning and listening and find it an honour for clients to share their stories with me.
My counselling approach is relationship focussed and centred on each unique individual's needs and goals. I believe in building a strong foundation of trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship so that we can approach issues with curiosity and openness.
My goal is continued growth in how I understand and support clients and I make continued learning a priority. My style is organic and personable, calm, and attuned to the pace of spontaneous insight and shifting goals. I strive to balance thoughtful reflection with structured guidance and skills when useful.
I draw from various approaches depending on what is going on for you and what fits best with your goals and personality. These include cognitive and mindfulness based therapies (ACT and MBCT), Metallization Based Therapy (MBT), Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT), Parts Work (IFS), and insight based approaches like Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. My approach is also informed by both attachment and trauma-informed lenses.
I have a background in philosophy and psychology and bring both to bear in my understanding of human behaviour as well as in exploring the meaning and purpose of our lives. I believe therapy is a place for self-reflection, growth, and acceptance and strive to be a compassionate facilitator of these processes.
Additionally, although I bring my experience and knowledge to our work together, I highly value humility in this process as I believe you are the expert of your life and relationships.
